Most adults in Texas do not need a referral to start physical therapy
Waiting for a physician’s approval can delay care and increase unnecessary healthcare costs. Non-Medicare adults can see a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) for 10 business days before requiring a script! Patients with HMO health insurance plans (such as Tricare Prime) will require a referral for all specialist services if you decide to use your health insurance for PT.
